Hair styles on Pretty Little Liars

No outfit is complete until hair and makeup are added to the look. This week, I'll show you my favorite looks from the show, and simple how-to's to create it easily for yourself.

For a simple, put together look, try this hairstyle that Hanna sported in season 1. (It would probably work better for girls with long straight/wavy hair, but curly haired girls, don't fret, you can easily do it too!)

Just take 3 strands of hair, and starting at the crown of your head, french braid them into a headband. Continue with the braid until you get about 2 inches to your ear. Tie the braid so it doesn't fall out, and use bobby pins to pin the braid underneath your hair, to make it seem like the braid never ends. Perfect for school, a party, the beach, poolside, etc.

For girls with longer, wavy, curly hair, this look, worn by Aria, is much easier to create, and can be maintained throughout the day. Start with your hair down. Then, take about an inch of hair right from the front, on both sides, start braiding them, however you want, fishtail, regular, french, etc. Once that's finished, bring the braids around your head, so that they are in the back. Use a small baby clip, and voila, a simple, yet cute look. Perfect to keep long hair out of your face on days when you don't want to wear it up.

For Spencer's simple wavy look, seen below, tousle hair with fingers by flipping it over, using some hair spray. Don't use the sticky kind, for this look, you want to use the "beach waves" kind, such as "Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturing Sea Salt Spray," which can be purchased here
Add some hairspray when your head is in the upright position for a more stable hold.

The newest craze in hair styles is the ombre, which Emily sports a lot on "Pretty Little Liars." The one thing I love about her character is her simple hairstyles, which can be done in less than 5 minutes. In order to get the ombre effect, all you need to do is buy any hair dye from your local drug store, pharmacy, etc. I would advise using something a little lighter than your natural hair color in case it doesn't work right the first time (so it's not that noticeable). The best one to use is Clairol. Once you figure out the ombre effect (for tips, visit http://www.wikihow.com/Ombre-Hair), use the hair spray from above to get the bouncy beach waves!

Looking at the Newest Spring Fashions with Help from "Pretty Little Liars"

Spring is almost here! Which means it's time to put away the winter coats, gloves, scarves, hats, boots, etc. (What a pain in the butt to get dressed these days)
If "Pretty Little Liars" plot line doesn't interest you, the clothing on it might.
This time around, I'll show you the cutest new spring looks to fit perfectly in your closet.

Spring is all about the dresses. This dress, seen in Season 4, is the perfect dress to transition from winter to spring. The color isn't too bold, rather soft and elegant. The paisley pattern is very easy on the eyes. There is no busyness going on, which is perfect for this time of year. The buttons on the top make it very feminine.

The dress:

The tan bow wrapped around the dress adds extra volume to it. Perfect for a night out on the town, for work (depending on the dress code at your job) or a fancy party, this dress is the one that needs to be in your wardrobe. Pair it with nude heels, and you'll be turning heads wherever you go.

Unfortunately, this dress is currently unavailable, but head on over to anthropologie to check out dresses similar to this one.

Maxi dresses are all the rage right now. When there's a slight chill in the air on a late-April afternoon, pair this dress with a white jean crop jacket or a black crop cardigan. The peach color adds a feminine feel to the dress. Pair it with a belt like the stylist on "Pretty Little Liars" did to add extra oomph to the dress.

The designer of this dress, DV by Dolce Vita, has recreated the dress by adding a sheer bottom. The dress can be purchased here, but while it may be too pricey for most, I found a dress similar for a much cheaper price here.

Wearing floral is a big part of spring fashion. Hanna sports a cute floral dress on an episode of "Pretty Little Liars." The floral print is not too busy, a lot is going on, but everything is under control with this dress. It's the perfect length, and works with almost any body type.

Pair it with a white jacket, seen here, or leave it on its own. Definitely use a belt to give it a little extra something. See other floral dresses similar to this one at Urban Outfitters. For those on a budget, check out Forever 21 for cute, affordable floral dresses just like this one.

Yellow is the perfect color for spring. It reminds us all of the sunshine that has arrived after a mostly brutal winter.
This dress, worn by Hanna, is perfect to add to your spring wardrobe. The yellow is in the pastel family, so it's not too bright, and is easy on the eyes. It is subtle enough to wear to class, work or even a spring bridal shower. The addition of white lace at the top makes this dress flirty and feminine.

A similar dress can be found here, even though it's sold out, the company would reorder it based on your need for the dress. So head on over to ModCloth to possibly have this dress in your wardrobe.

Last but not least, a pink dress belongs in every girl's closet, especially for the spring. Aria's pink dress, seen here:

has a hint of grunge to it, with the black lace top and black studded belt added to the look. While I like the combination of black and pink, I don't think it goes with the flirty vibe the dress is giving off. Instead, try pairing it plain. If you're cold, add a denim crop jacket to the look. This dress is sold out on the Urban Outfitters website, but check out Forever 21 for similar dresses.
Pair it with black or gold sandals for an even cuter spring look that will sure turn heads when you immediately step outside.

Aria's Crazy, But Fashionable, Outfit Choices on Pretty Little Liars

Last week's episode of "Pretty Little Liars" was intense, as it usually is, but I didn't feel like there were any interesting outfits to talk about this week. Instead, I'll focus on Aria Montgomery's outfits, because she has the second best fashion sense out of the four girls. I would definitely want to raid her closet for some of these outfits.

This dress, which she wore this season, is a favorite of mine. It's so stylish and chic and bursting with color.

This is the dress:

It's a fashion risk that most aren't willing to take. Aria wore it to a surprise party for one of the girl's. This dress is definitely a good party dress. I wouldn't advise wearing it to school, a wedding, a formal event, etc.; there is too much loudness going on for that.

The dress is designed by Betsey Johnson, and it's called the "Purr-ty Animal Dress." The cheetah print makes it pop, and the colors make it look fashionable. It pairs perfectly with combat boots, heels, or wedges. Aria added a denim jacket and pink scarf to add to the look. Unfortunately, this dress is no longer available on the website, but when it comes back, you know you want to buy it.

You can visit the website here, and also see what other dresses are similar to this one.

THESE JEANS ARE SO CRAZY, but so fashionable at the same time. Perfect for the spring time, these jeans, with the white floral print, will add volume to any outfit. Pair it with a hot pink top, and this outfit will make heads turn wherever you go. Aria added a hot pink studded bag and a studded leather jacket to make the pants stand out.

These jeans are currently unavailable, but shoppers can be emailed when they return, so head on over to Zappos.com and sign up!

This jacket is so cute for the spring time, with the pastel colors and the lightweight material. Adding a black shirt underneath would make it pop even more. While I would pair it with a pair of plain jeans, go crazy and add it with the jeans shown above! People will be talking about your outfit for days.

The jacket is currently out of stock, but I found a similar one here, The price is much cheaper, and this one is a little brighter. If you don't want to go too crazy with all the colors, this jacket may work for you, but be warned, before you fall in love with it, it's a bit pricey.

This last jacket, perfect for the spring time, on a chilly summer night, and even for the fall. The army green color is subtle enough to be paired with any color shirt on the bottom, and any type of jeans, leggings, shorts, skirts, whatever you want, on the bottom. It even works perfectly with the first dress I showed you, and even the floral print jeans shown above. This jacket is a pretty reasonable price. It's sold by Free People.

Spring Has Sprung (Or At Least It Has on PLL)

This week, I'll focus on Hanna's outfit from last week's episode. This episode was crazy, but I'm not here to give a recap of what happened (you should really watch it on your own).
On the episode, "She's Come Undone," where Aria has completely lost her mind, Hanna was sporting the cutest spring outfit.

At first, I said to myself "What is she thinking?" but as the episode went on, I fell in love with her outfit.
The jumpsuit, shown here:

is a mix of different floral prints, each one capturing your eye. It can work by itself, but I think it pairs  better with a jacket, blazer or even a blouse, where you can cover the top and just work the bottom.
The stylist's on "Pretty Little Liars" definitely hit the nail on the head when they put this on Hanna; it would only work for her character.

Now if we know Hanna, we know she needs something to go with this jumpsuit. As I said before, a jacket or blazer would work best with this.

They paired it with a hot pink blazer, perfect for this outfit. The blazer, shown here:

is perfect to pair with this jumpsuit. It makes it pop, especially with the neon-ish, hot pink vibe to the blazer. This blazer is also perfect to add to other outfits, such as cropped pants, jeans, a white or black blouse (the black and pink combo is personally a favorite of mine) and even a pencil skirt, if you want to go for the professional look.
The clothing company Topshop USA is currently selling this blazer for $110. It can be all yours!

You can buy it HERE.

If you don't like how they styled it on Pretty Little Liars, Topshop styled it this way.

This is perfect for a night out on the town, or even for school!

Last but not least, let's talk about Hanna's shoes, oh my goodness! While I don't think its appropriate to wear shoes like that to school, seeing as they're seniors in high school, I do think they work perfectly for clubbing, parties, etc. They are black booties with a buckle on the side with about a three/four inch heel. They are SO cute and stylish, and they belong in any girl's closet.

This outfit wouldn't be complete without the boots.

For the finishing touches, Hanna adds colorful beaded necklaces and a sleek black bag, to really make the outfit pop.

This outfit has been one of my favorites so far on this season. While the story line was intense, I couldn't stop thinking about this outfit. I definitely want it in my closet.
